Artificial grass pitches are used by a large number of people for entertainement, amusement, educational, rehabilitation and social purposes.
Many people, particularly youngsters, spend a lot of time trainig on synthetic turf fields and get in direct contact with infill granules by skin contact, breathing and in some rare cases even ingestion. Therefore it is very important that infill materials are totally safe and free from any risk.
SO.F.TER. is proud to have chosen a responsible and sustainable approach to these aspects.
Some SBR-based infill materials obtained from grinded post consumer tires might contain some components which are aknowledged as dangerous substances in various European Laws and Directives.
SO.F.TER. infill materials do not contain any hazardous substance because they are produced with first-use thermoplastic rubbers whose origin and quality is guaranteed by qualified suppliers. SO.F.TER. products comply with the most stringent European norms (REACH) and do not contain:
- No traces of carcinogenic PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons)
- No Halogens
- No Phthalates
- Comply with EU Directive EN 71.3 (Safety of toys)
SO.F.TER. infill materials do not contain heavy metals or other hazardous substances which can pollute the soil and water ( DIN 18035-7 compliant) .
Infill products Terra XPS and HOLO SP-D have been approved according to the Dutch Soil Quality Decree (Besluit Bodemkwaliteit) which sets severe rules and tight controls on building materials in order to prevent the pollution of soil and water. SO.F.TER. is currently the only infill supplier that has obtained such a certification after that the whole production cycle has been inspected by INTRON Certification Institute.
All SO.F.TER. infill products are thermoplastic materials which are fully recyclable: this means that they can be reprocessed and reused in the same or new application..
